Blogmas Challenge ’18 #23: Online Personalities

Gone are the days when the role models one is expected to have were only the parents, teachers and religious leaders he/she is exposed to. Thanks to the internet and social media, we are all gain access to personalities around the globe and are inspired by their lives and works.

I loved to be inspired. It is a healthy reminder that life is not a bed roses and even roses as beautiful as they are, come with thorns. Hardships are a part of life so we have to face them with positivity knowing that they build us up to be better.

One personality I’ve come to love listening to online is Sara Jakes Roberts. Being the daughter of the old-time preacher and influential icon Bishop TD Jakes, one would assume she sailed through life without scratches. But she has gone through some stuff and she has emerged as a strong woman, preaching boldly and empowering women. Her sermons and occasional blog posts are relatable and deeply inspiring. Whenever I think of her, it reminds of a phoenix rising out of the ashes as that’s what she has become.

Jackie Hill Perry

I’m a huge fan of spoken word thanks to her and Jefferson Bethke. She recently released a book called Gay Girl, Good God to talk about her past and how her encounter with God has totally transformed her life. Her quotes are always thought-provoking and touching and so are her spoken word pieces.

Tyler Perry

I don’t know if he qualifies to be an online personality but I just want to share how much I respect and admire this man. Reading his story and how far he has come from being a playwright to owning his own movie studio is so inspiring! It tells me that no matter your background, as long as you believe in your dream and trust God, all things are possible.
