Every human activity is gradually being replaced by something digital. As school and work life get more demanding outside, it would be nice to have your home taking care of you when you arrive, right? If you watch contemporary movies, you would have seen snippets of a ‘techy’ home and how cool it looked. As living standards rise and the thirst for living sophisticated lives increases, having automated homes will become the new normal and not just considered as luxurious.
Conservatives would argue that only lazy people would want computers to manage their lives but I say, the world 17 years ago, is definitely not the same today. Denying the fact doesn’t change the reality of digital era taking over. Just think of the bliss of your home being at your service just at the sound of your voice or the tip of your finger!
Self-driving cars sound cool as well especially to people like me who aren’t so enthusiastic about driving in the city. Just get your destination locked in and get comfortable with your book or laptop ready and get some reading or work done before your day actually begins. If you live in a busy city like Accra, then you know how driving to work alone can render you exhausted for the first half of the day. Terrible traffic, annoying drivers, car-shocking potholes…you name it, can make driving a less pleasant experience and make it look like a hectic chore.
So I wonder how effective a self-driving car will be on the streets of Accra or Kumasi when drivers can be so reckless that it takes only the grace of God to avoid a nasty accident every single day. Perhaps on good roads with disciplined drivers, it would work but in present day Ghana, I honestly doubt it.
I’m more excited about the automated home idea and wish I could have that today! To have a home maintaining itself and taking care of me is a domestic miracle I crave for!
What about you? What would you find more convenient and why? Kindly share your thoughts and thanks for reading.

I don’t much trust auto-correct, autoword complete and next-word prediction, so handling trusting a self-driving car …. Not so much….
But I love the concept of an automated home

I think I prefer automated home. But automated…. Doesn’t sound “comfortable” to me. The idea of computer controlling things is scary kinda. What if it fails? What if it’s hacked? What if it develops a mind of its own? 😂 I sound paranoid but that’s how I feel.

I would say — neither— I think it`s good for us to have to think and to work, not to have everything done for us. Sometimes conveniences can become inconveniences for the soul.

Honestly neither – self driving cars never appealed to me and I don’t want a modern home. How fast technology is moving kind of scares me, as you said, 17 years ago was a different time, and I’m wondering what the world will be like in 10, 20, 50 years.
Happy holidays.
