What Makes Me Smile

I hear smiling keeps you young or is it laughter instead? Whichever be the case, I intend to keep growing younger by grinning and laughing my way through. Laughter they say, is medicine for the soul. And I say, smiling is how you keep the brain pleasantly excited.

There are some things that automatically cause me to pause and just stretch my face into a smile.

  1. Lifted hands in worship

When I see lots of people worshipping in Hillsong, Elevation Worship, William McDowell videos among a host of others, I can’t help but smile. My heart suddenly feels elated because I get to see how heaven is going to be like. With redeemed saints from every nation, tribe and tongue, praising and exalting God for who He is and how far He has brought us.

It takes total surrender to truly worship and it’s beautiful to watch people worship in harmony of heart and song.

  • Collaboration among artistes, actors etc.

I just love the idea of collaboration! Whenever I see my favorite actors together in a movie, I don’t care if the story is middling, the opportunity to watch them rub off each other onscreen is just exciting to me (I guess that’s why I never get tired of watching Avengers). The same with music. I believe when talented minds, anointed voices and humble hearts assemble, amazing works of art are created.

  • Innocence and blind trust in children

One thing I find captivating about kids is the innocence in their eyes. The way they believe every promise made to them just melts my heart. No wonder that Jesus requires us to have child-like faith in Him. It’s the only way we can fully accept Him as Lord in our lives and thus experience Him the way He wants us to. One thing that gives my heart pleasure is seeing an excited kid running into the arms of an adult. I can’t help but smile at such a heartwarming sight.

  • Wildlife/mammals taking care of their young

What is more refreshing than watching animals just living their lives in their natural habitat? Seeing chimpanzees carrying their young, lions cleaning their pubs and chasing their prey, birds teaching their little ones to fly, eagles targeting fish from the sea and catching them at the right time, I could go on and on… The wilderness, rich forests, waterfalls and deserts, their beauty just takes my breath away.

  • A Mercedes

Yep, I’m a sucker for Mercedes. Those close to me know how much. Doesn’t matter the model. I think I’ll attribute my love for the brand because of my dad. He’s a huge fan of the car. One of the many things I share in common with him.

What are the things that you can’t help but smile about? Kindly share and thanks for reading.

  1. 😊 Many times when I read from you, it’s almost like someone else writing how I feel. Apart from what you have written about that takes my breathe away, I smile when my mum is happy, I smile when I complete a task given me at work or when a new idea sparks.

I smile when I see puppies and when I read something really profound, but I am able to grasp it’s meaning almost immediately. I take it as a message just for me.
