Thanks to Mandie of Mandie Talks Avenue blog for calling me out to partake in the 30 Days of Thankfulness posts. But looking at the list, I don’t have enough to write on each item so I’ve decided to divide them into three list posts about the people and things I’m thankful for this year. So here it goes:
- Person
My mother. I don’t know where I’d be without her. Her constant prayers, love, care and support are what keeps me on my feet. She believes in me the most during moments I’ve lost faith in myself. God bless you, mummy.
2. Animal
My pets-my dog (which I affectionately call Kweku; p.s. I didn’t name him, my brother did); his puppies (named Lulu and Lala by my sister; which is funny because they are both male) and my two cats (I call them Mr. Brown because it has some brown fur and Mr. White because it is mostly white). They can get on my nerves sometimes but they are cute and sweet. They are my companions when I spend long hours in the kitchen. When I’ve no one to talk to, they are always there to listen. Except the time that Kweku got up and went to lie down somewhere else when I started singing some song. I was so hurt. Was my voice that bad? If I don’t like to sing in public, it’s because of Kweku lol 😁.
Update in 2021: Although they are all no more, I still have fond memories of them.
3. Cozy Place
I’d say it’d be my bedroom. I’m so thankful for a room and a bed that I don’t have to share with anyone else. It is my sanctuary, my writing office, my crying hideaway and my personal space.
4. Favorite Snack:
Roasted plantain with groundnuts and Sobolo drink as stated in my favorite delicacies post. It is one of the few local snacks one can enjoy without having to suffer any ‘social disdain.’
5. Place
I’d say church; not necessarily my local church. Any Bible-believing, Holy Ghost filled church would be my got-to place any day, any time.
You’re however invited to my church, Baptist International Worship Centre – you are free to join us online @BIWCGHANA. I love it because of the fellowship and sense of family I have with fellow members.
6. Pair of shoes
I’m not that crazy about shoes. But I love the two pairs of flat African print shoes my little sister got me from school. They are lovely and they make my feet look beautiful. Thanks, sweetie!😘😘
7. Scent
I love the scent of wet soil. It has this rich smell, one I can’t describe. I also find the smell of fuel interesting. I wonder why.
8. Restaurant
I hardly eat out so I don’t have any fond memories of a restaurant. When I do find one God willing, I’ll definitely share with you.
9. Blog/Website
I’m very thankful to God for urging me to create Joseyphina’s World. I’ve learnt a lot and I’ve come to discover many amazing people across the globe via this platform. It’s one of the many blessings I can never thank God enough for.🙌
Update in 2021: We have the Joseyphina’s World Podcast as well. Find it on your favorite listening platform and enjoy!
10. Time of Day
I can’t pick out a particular time that I’m most thankful for. I love the mornings because I’m grateful to wake up to another beautiful day; I love the afternoons because of how bright the sun makes everything look and I love the evenings because of how the atmosphere grows quiet and serene and lets me write in peace. So I’m thankful for every second, every minute of every day!
*
Thanks for reading. I’m sure there are tons of things you’re thankful for as well. Why not join the challenge? You can choose to write a post per each item. I’d love to read it. I’ll post the second batch soon.
Enjoy your weekend.

We take for granted things like shoes and such. That’s why I like to support brands that give a pair back such as Toms. I love shoes and buy them often so I can say I am thankful for them too! -breyona sharpnack

I like that more people are thinking about what the are thankful for or at least it seems I am noticing more people being thankful. Be nice to continue it through out the year.

Such a great post. I am also incredibly thankful for the church. We recently had to switch churches so I resonated so well with the point you made. A Bible believing church is the most important thing.

I love your list. It’s important to reflect on the things we are thankful for to re-focus our thinking sometimes. There is so much negativity everywhere–this is a wonderful reminder to look for the good things. 🙂

Like you, I hardly eat out so I don’t have any fond memories of a restaurant. However, I am thankful that I can cook my own meal and there is joy in my heart when I cook for my people and they are happy…..

I love roasted plantains too. Though I love to eat mine with grilled fish and Ugu (pumpkin leaves) sauce. My favourite local food is Okpa. Do I love pets? 😀 yes, I do. I don’t have any at the moment though. I like the challenge. I should try it too.
