TV Series Tag #62: The Umbrella Academy

Heya! We are back to a superhero story this week. The Umbrella Academy is about seven special individuals who were born under strange circumstances to random women and bought off by billionaire industrialist Sir Reginald Hangreeves. He prepares his wards to save the world from some major apocalypse. The family however disintegrates when the children get to their teens. They join forces upon the passing of the father to solve the mystery behind his death but their differing personalities pull them apart again amidst the threat of a global threat. The Umbrella Academy streams on Netflix.

1.            Where would you rank it among your favorite shows?

Top 70.

2.            From 1-10, how obsessed are you?

I loved the unique personalities of the six (one was dead but featured regularly as a ghost) which kept the interest going. I’ll rate myself at 7.

3.            How did you discover the show?

I saw the trailer on YouTube and instantly liked it.

4.            What was your initial thought of the show and did it change after watching it?

I loved the premise. Terrible father, weird children, world coming to an end. What could be better than that? As the plot unraveled and the most unlikely suspect happened to be villain somewhat, I was impressed.

  5.  Why do you like the show?

I like the show because each character adds some flavor to the story in an interesting way. The story isn’t predictable and that keeps me intrigued. The added humor from Klaus is much needed when things get intense.

  6. Favorite season?

I enjoyed both seasons 1 and 2 but I’d rather choose season 2 – perhaps because I just finished watching it and the sentiments are fresh.

7. Favorite characters?

Number Five – Yep, he didn’t stick around later enough to get himself a name. He’s the smart one.

Klaus Hargreeves – the funny, drunk, quite psycho one. Since he has the ability to see and talk to ghosts, he always has the spirit of their dead sibling Ben, with him as companion.

Luther Hargreeves – the sensitive one. Has feelings for his sister Allison but can’t act on it because…they are siblings.

Vanya Hargreeves – the volatile one. She seems very cool and collected but when she’s pissed, oh my, apocalypse happens!

Allison Hargreeves – She seems to be glue of the family. She can rumor you to do anything.

Diego Hargreeves – has the hero mentality, wanting to save the day.

Handler – She works for the Commission. Very manipulative. Always with an agenda.

  8.  Who is your crush on the show?

Don’t have one.

  9. If you were to be a character, who would you choose?

Allison. Her powers to rumor ideas into your head comes in very handy.

10. Do you follow the show on Facebook and Twitter?

I follow the show on Facebook.

11. Which of the characters would you like to meet?

Number Five, Klaus, Sir Hargreeves.

12. What lesson(s) have you learnt from the show?

Family is family, no matter how messed up it is.  We may not be able to change our childhood but we can decide not to let it determine who we become or how we see ourselves. When it comes to events in time and trying to change or prevent it, well, most stories have assured that it is more likely to backfire.

Have you watched The Umbrella Academy? What do you think of the show? Kindly share and thanks for reading.

I really loved the season two. Loved how they’ve left us with so many open plots. Just looking forward to the new students of the sparrow academy and of course their powers. Hoping Lila comes to accept the family; a dysfunctional family but the love is there.
My favourite character is forever number five. Been a fan of Aiden since Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn. His acting here is captivating and humorous. I love that psycho 😅😊
