Favorite movies I never tire of

How did I come up with this post? I’m watching Wanted on TV right now for the ‘I-lost-count’ number of times and it got me thinking. What other movies do I enjoy so much that I don’t mind watching again and again? Instantly, the following below popped up.

Why is that? Because the story is great, the acting amazing and the sense of humor, enough to make my heart burst. Just noticed most of them are action movies. Ah well, what beats a fast paced story with a little action and gunfight?

  • Wanted (Action/Thriller, 2008)

Watching it as I speak. Angelina Jolie was phenomenal as always and James McAvoy was remarkable as the anxiety-stricken turned gunshot pro. Just love it. My favorite scenes are the two on top of the train and the chase scenes with Thomas Kretschmann.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Smith (Action/Romance, 2005)

What is there not to love about this movie? Brad Smith and Angelina Jolie as spousal spies? Everything! The chemistry, the sequence, the fight choreography…everything!

  • Den of Thieves (Action/Thriller, 2018)

You know the type of movies where you are so taken in by the bad guys that you want to see them win at the end? That’s how I felt about Pablo Schreiber. I loved his cool composure and quiet confidence. Gerald Butler was his rugged self which was cool. My favorite part was when 50 cent invited the young guy who was about taking his daughter to prom into a room with the gang and they scared the hell out of him. That was hilarious.

  • Salt (Action/Mystery, 2010)

Angelina Jolie again. What can I say? She’s one of the best screen actresses of our time. My favorite scene was where she laid the Russian camp to waste after witnessing her husband’s murder.

  • Fast five (Action/Heist, 2011)

I’ve watched the movie so many times that I think I know the scene sequence back-to-back. Fast cars always fascinate me and I particularly love how easy and comfortable Vin Diesel makes driving race cars look. My favorite scene was when Vin and Paul Walker (God rest his soul) were driving the vault through town with the cops chasing them. Ah, the ecstasy!

  • Evan Almighty (Comedy/Family, 2007)

I feel challenged anytime I watch this movie. There’s something I take away from it whenever I watch it. We give ourselves grief when we try to fight God and his purpose for our lives. When we live a life of obedience, God orders even nature to help you out in your mission.

  • London has fallen (Action/Thriller, 2016)

This is another movie I think I’ve memorized the entire scene sequence. Gerald Butler was on point as usual and I like that the pace of the movie is steady right to the end.

  • Vantage Point (Action/Thriller, 2008)

Stories told on a timeline! Sign me up, every day, any time! I love that every detail is important and that attention is needed for the ending to make sense to you. Brilliant writing!

  • Takers (Action/Crime, 2010)

Idris Elba, Paul Walker, Chris Brown, T.I, Michael Ealy in a heist together? Definitely my kind of entertainment. I loved the different personalities that were at play and the chemistry among the guys.

  • Dr. Strange (Action/Fantasy, 2016)

Benedict Cumberbatch! Just love to say his name. I love the remarkable mix of action, humor and great storyline. And Benedict was amazing.

  • John Wick (Action Thriller, 2014 – )

At first, I didn’t get the whole fuss about the John Wick franchise until late night TV treated me to Part one and two back-to-back on different channels. I was blown away! I love the fact that Keanu didn’t waste bullets at all. Just shoot to kill – at most three bullets per target. And his sense of fashion, on point! Always looked sharp in his tailored suits. Great franchise.

  • Baby Driver (Action/Thriller, 2017)

Heist, car chase, interesting gang members? I’m all for it. I’ve a big fan of Kevin Spacey; I think he’s a great actor. I loved Ansel Elgort, Jamie Foxx as well as the couple who were part of the gang. The shooting and racing scenes, I loved very much.

  • Django Unchained (Western/Drama, 2012)

I love this movie! Especially the second half of it when Leonardo DiCaprio is introduced. And Samuel L. Jackson was amazing! His accent and attitude were so funny. Also loved the chemistry between Jamie Foxx and Christoph Waltz. I loved the part where Leonardo found out he was being lied to about the true intentions behind their desire to buy Keri Washington from him. Great acting from the entire cast.

Quentin Tarantino did a great job making this movie.

  • The Hateful Eight (Western/Mystery, 2015)

Another Tarantino favorite! When I got the movie, I think I watched it every day for almost a month. A bounty hunter and captured fugitive found themselves in a small lodge and things get bloody. It was gory, no doubt but I loved it anyway. Samuel L. Jackson, amazing as usual. Would love to watch it again.

  • That Awkward Moment (Romantic Comedy, 2014)

Really funny movie. I love the chemistry among the three guys: Zac Efron, Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller. It shows how great friends fight sometimes and care about themselves to make up and move on.

  • Mission Impossible (1996 – )

Climbing skyscrapers and watching incredible stunts? Yeah, Tom Cruise seems to have been born for the crazy stunts. Love watching the series.

I’m sure there are more movies I’ve watched several times that I still watch with renewed enthusiasm. Would have to update this list when any more come to mind.

What movies do you not mind watching over and over again? Kindly share and thanks for reading!

A quick scan of your movies suggests you have a strong affinity for action movies… I think I love all the above movies and I am (im)patiently waiting for John Wick 4 it would have been out soon and an added would have been the release of another Keanu Reeves movie on the same day The Matrix 4 ..(the Matrix could easily top the list of my all-time favourite movies and probably why I like Keanu) and then Corona happened…

OMG had forgotten about the Hateful 8 I loved the dialogue and always watch it with the subtitles on so I don’t miss a single word… at some point i even read the screen play…
