But you say

I thought myself as insignificant

But you say I am precious in your sight

I was told my body was mine to use as I pleased

But you say my body is a temple, where your Holy Spirit resides

People say I’m free because I’m of my own

But you say I’m free because you bought me at a price

I’m made to feel like I don’t matter because I’m not known

But you say you know me by name and the number of hairs on my head

To many I’m forgettable

But you tell me you have my name engraved in the palm of your hand

I may not be labeled beautiful because I’m not of the model size and shape

But you assure me you made me in your image and after your likeness

I feel overwhelmed with life’s demands, guilt and frustrations most of the time

But you say I should come to you for you will give me rest

They say I can become rich through smart means

But you are the only one who gives me the ability to make wealth and adds no sorrow to it

I’m daily persuaded that I’d be safe if I purchased various security systems

But you say if you don’t watch over a city, the guards stand watch in vain

They say I can be a god to myself

But you say without you, I am and can do nothing

The world has lots to say and little to mean

But your words are light and life to me every time I hear them!
