#WBC2020: I want to meet Mo Abudu!

The people I usually dream of meeting one day are usually my favorite filmmakers, writers and actors; most of them being non-African.

However, there are some industrious people on our continent making Africa proud in various industries. One such person who inspires me is media mogul Mosunmola Abudu.

Who is Mo? An award-winning filmmaker, TV producer, TV show hostess, media entrepreneur among others. She is the founder of Ebony Life TV who recently inked a multi-title deal with Netflix. This partnership will boost the already booming Nollywood industry.

She has steadily built an empire; a reputable one at that, dedicated to churning out quality productions that tell authentic African stories in a contemporary way. She launched Ebony Life TV in 2012, the first fully Nigerian-owned entertainment channel to be carried on South African pay TV platform, DStv and later ventured into feature films. Her productions are credited with having three highest-grossing Nollywood movies in the Box Office.

I admire Mo greatly because it takes a lot of faith and determination, attitude and endurance to accomplish what she has so far. I’d love to know what her initial dream for her company was, how it evolved to what it is now and what her plans are for the next decade.

I wouldn’t mind having her as a mentor. I’d really love to learn a thing or two (probably more than that) from her.

She’s proven that women are not only capable of contributing towards an empire but actually building one ourselves. Such women need all our support and deserve all the acknowledgment they get. She is doing what most people can only dream to do.

Which African personality would you like to meet and why? Kindly share and thanks for reading
