TV Series Tag #55: Gangs of London

TV Series Tag #55: Gangs of London

We are back on the TV series train with another family business in focus; although this kind is involved in organized crime. Set in the very heart of London, it tells the story of the city being torn apart by the turbulent power struggles of the international gangs that control it and the sudden power vacuum that’s created when the head of London’s most powerful crime family (Finn Wallace) is assassinated.

1.            Where would you rank it among your favorite shows?

I’d place it in my top 60.

2.            From 1-10, how obsessed are you?

I’d rate myself at 8. The plot was intriguing and each episode ended on a cliffhanger for me.

3.            How did you discover the show?

My brother recommended it. And I was excited to see Joe Cole (John Shelby in Peaky Blinders) as a central character.

4.            What was your initial thought of the show and did it change after watching it?

I had a general perception of how the story would unfold after having watched a couple of gang-themed shows. I thought it would be about cliché inner conflicts among the member gangs of the organization but this one had new angles and twists which kept my enthusiasm up. And the action scenes were really brutal.

5.            Why do you like the show?

I love the show because of the pace of the story. It seemed like each character had more to him/her than what they revealed and I was curious to find out what their agenda truly was.

6.            Who are your favorite characters?

Sean Wallace – He wasn’t the typical business-smart kind of successor but it looked like he had his own plans of how to make things work. He loved his family.

Alex Dumani – key member of the Wallace organization; called the ‘smartest one in the room’.

7.            Least favorite character

Elliot Finch – I know he’s supposed to be the good guy; an undercover agent on a mission to bring down the largest crime syndicate in London but I didn’t like his character. And the fact that he betrayed Sean at the end? I surely didn’t see that coming.

8.            Who is your crush on the show?

Sean Wallace.

9.            If you were to be a character, who would you choose?

Jacqui Wallace – she loves her family but chooses not to be part of the company and its activities.

10.          Favorite season

Only season 1 is out so far and I totally loved it.

11. Do you follow the cast and show on Facebook and Twitter?

I follow the show on Facebook.

12.          Which of the characters would you like to meet?

Sean Wallace, Alex and Ed Dumani, Asif Raza Mir.

13. If you could meet any of the actors, who would it be?

Joe Cole, Paapa Essiedu (excited to know he’s Ghanaian!)

14.          What lesson(s) have you learnt from the show?

Whatever is hidden will eventually come out.  It is good to heed the advice of experienced partners especially when succeeding another in a leadership role. Beware of people you let into your business. They could end up controlling you.

Have you watched Gangs of London? What do you like about the show? Kindly share and thanks for reading.
