TV Series Tag #50: Prodigal Son

Just finished watching another series which I enjoyed pretty much to share with you. Prodigal Son tells the story of Malcolm Bright, a former FBI profiler who happens to be the son of an infamous serial killer Martin Whitly. He consults on cases with the NYPD while trying to overcome his severe PTSD stemming from his troubling childhood.

1.            Where would you rank it among your favorite shows?

Top 60.

2.            From 1-10, how obsessed are you?

Any psychological thriller is a must watch for me and I loved the show from episode one. I’ll rate myself at 7.

3.            How did you discover the show?

On social media. When I saw Michael Sheen in the trailer with him starring as the serial killer, I knew I had to watch it. Also seeing Bellamy Young starring in it got me excited.

4.            What was your initial thought of the show and did it change after watching it?

With the title, I figured that Malcolm would initially try to do good with his knowledge of murder and all and later discover his own dark side but I realized it was more of digging into his subconscious about what he went through which damaged him.

  5.  Why do you like the show?

I like the show because like most cop shows, it tries to uncover the psychological makeup of crime and I always find that fascinating.

  6. Favorite episode/season?

Only one season is out but I loved every episode especially those which featured Martin Whitley. He is a very clever character.

7. Favorite character?

Jessica Whitly played by Bellamy Young. She tries her best to make sure her children live normal lives despite the taint of her ex-husband’s ghastly crimes. Though I feel like there’s more to the story that she lets on about the past, she cares deeply for her children.

8. Favorite villain?

All the villains featured were pretty bad but I think the Junkyard Killer was one bad dude. The fact that he was friends with Martin during his ‘hay days’ is just as disturbing.

  8.  Who is your crush on the show?

I’d have said Malcolm but he is too messed up in the head…it wouldn’t be safe.

  9. If you were to be a character, who would you choose?

Perhaps Jessica. Wasn’t that impressed with the character of Ainsley, Malcolm’s sister.

10. Do you follow the show on Facebook and Twitter?

I follow the show on Facebook.

11. Which of the characters would you like to meet?

Martin Whitley, Malcolm Bright and Jessica Whitly.

12. What lesson(s) have you learnt from the show?

Childhood is an extremely delicate period in everyone’s life that we should beware of what we expose kids to in their tender ages. The ripple effects can last a lifetime.

Memories are powerful. No matter how repressed they are, they would find their way to the surface especially when some events didn’t give room for closure.

Have you watched Prodigal Son yet? What are your thoughts on it? Kindly share and thanks for reading.
