TV Series Tag #40: Bodyguard

Hi there! We are going to stay put in London for this one. Bodyguard tells the story of a war veteran called PS David Budd who was assigned to guard the Home Secretary, Rt. Hon Julia Montague MP, a controversial and ambitious politician. There are more than one conflict of interest at play here as he personally is not in support of her political views and yet has to remain professional. That line got blurred and crossed completely when he started giving her ‘room service’ lol.

1. Where would you rank it among your favorite shows?
I’d place it in my top 50.

2. From 1-10, how obsessed are you?
I’d rate myself at 7. I liked the multi-dimensional plots at play in the story so it kept me intrigued.

3. How did you discover the show?
I found an interview of Richard Madden (who plays David Budd in the show and played Rob Stark in Game of Thrones) talking of his new show. Since he was one of my favorite characters in GoT, I decided to check out this one and I did.

4. What was your initial thought of the show and did it change after watching it?
I found it intriguing and the feeling kept growing as the story unfolded. There were times I thought it would go a certain way because of his dislike for her stance but it didn’t. And when their relationship evolved into an intimate one, I imagined it taking another route and again it didn’t. With a plot twist I didn’t see coming, it changed the trajectory altogether. The last twist really got me. Never saw it coming. It’s a good show to watch.

5. Why do you like the show?
I like it because it kept swerving my expectations. That kept me in suspense to the end.

6. Who’s your favorite character?
David Budd. He was quite interesting to figure out. And his accent…sounded too strong to me. I can’t remember if he sounded the same way in GoT. I almost always cringed whenever he said, “Ma’am”. He was quite an interesting character.

7. Least favorite character
The director of Security Services, Stephen Hunter-Dunn. He smelled fishy from the get-go.

8. Who is your crush on the show?
Wasn’t crushing on anyone in particular.

9. If you were to be a character, who would you choose?
I guess it would be DS Louise Rayburn, an officer on the case. She was diligent with her work.

10. Favorite season
Only season 1 has been released so far. Season 2 might come out. And I found the 6-episode series a good watch.

11. Do you follow the cast and show on Facebook and Twitter?
No, I don’t. Maybe I will.

12. Which of the characters would you like to meet?
David Budd.

13. If you could meet any of the actors, who would it be?
Richard Madden.

14. What lesson(s) have you learnt from the show?
Don’t dare underestimate a woman, that’s for sure! Nadia Ali who played victim at the very beginning of the show played us all till the every end. Beware of anyone who puts on a helpless show. He/she could be the most dangerous person you might ever meet.

There’s nothing wrong with being ambitious but beware of the toes you step on as you strive to climb the ladder. Some people might not appreciate it and stop you from achieving your goal.

PTSD is real and if you or anyone you know is suffering from it, do well to seek help. Also be there for those who have experienced trauma of any kind. People react differently but the damage is fatal all the same.

Have you watched Bodyguard on Netflix? What are your thoughts on the show? Kindly share and thanks for reading.
