Today is the day

You got to see this day! It’s amazing, right? Just hours away from replacing the calendar you have with a brand new one. It’s one thing I love to do. A new timer to get things done right. 🗓

You and I are witnesses to the many people who perished in the course of the year much to our surprise. I don’t know about where you are but just yesterday, I heard about three deaths: a pastor stabbed to death by a nephew, a former worker of my mum who never woke up and a grisly accident. It seems dear grim death is on a roll with his sickle to put people down before the clock ticks dawn.

The truth is, in spite of the fuss we all make, tomorrow isn’t that different from today. It will pass just like today. The difference is who you start the year with. No matter how independent, self-sufficient you are and how you love to be an island, there is one person you would love to have your back…always.

There are some goodhearted, trustworthy people out there who would love to be your anchor and all but our human nature will always make them come short of your expectations, no matter how average.

That is why the only one who is truly up to the task is none other than the one called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace – the Lord Jesus Christ. Perhaps you’ve heard the name before and you think he’s one overhyped historical figure that losers like to pin their hopes on but just hang on a minute. He is no magician; he doesn’t make our troubles disappear (well, he could if it’s his will) but sees us through them. Sounds easier heard or read than experienced or felt but in a world reeked with disappointments and betrayals, it’s one of the best things to own: a companion who’s always with you.

You might have planned out how the next year should go but you and I know a thing or two about perfect plans. Something is just bound to go wrong. And the ripple effects we may never be prepared for but God knows the end from the beginning and his strength is perfected in our weakness.

All you have to do is call out to him and he will reach out for you.
You have nothing to lose if you try him out today. As we prepare for tomorrow and its contingencies, why don’t you invite him into your heart today? He’s just a confession and prayer away. The world makes it seem that you stand to lose all the fun it has to offer, but if you’ve ever been in a booze-up, you know how terrible the hangover is. Any kind of fun that has nasty aftereffects isn’t really fun at all.

Jesus heals, restores, grants peace and loves unconditionally. Start the New Year with Jesus and get ready for a life-changing experience. Just say these words:

Lord Jesus, I come to you this day confessing I’m a sinner in need of your grace. Forgive me of my wrongs and make me new. Come into my heart and make it your home. I want to spend the next year and rest of my days knowing you and you changing me into the person you created me to be. Thank you for hearing my humble prayer. Amen.

Welcome to the family!
