This year, I discovered some amazing shows which were enlightening, entertaining and shocking at the same time. Some of the shows began airing last year but I started watching them this year.
First show produced this year that I enjoyed would be the Spanish series ‘Elite.’ I’ve already done a post on it under my TV Series Tag so I’ll just give a summary here. The story is based in an elite high school where each student dealt with his or her own vices and basically got away with them until three students from a public school joined them.
Obviously, when the equilibrium is disturbed, there are consequences. If you were a fan of Gossip Girl back in the day and also enjoy How to Get Away with Murder, then you will definitely love this show.
At the beginning of the show, there are flash forwards of a female student dying. As the story unfolds, you begin to see how each of the characters might have a reason to be the culprit. It’s intense and fun to watch.
Second show I enjoyed watching this year was the Handmaid’s Tale although it began airing last year. I’ve done a post on it as well under the TV Series Tag. It portrays a futuristic era in the US where fertile women are abducted and forced to serve at ‘Gilead’ to produce children for the various commanders of the regime. It is horrifying to watch how some unscrupulous persons perverse what the Bible says to their own benefit. I thought lack of religion was dreadful but I fear twisted religion is even worse.
Third show that has been very stress-relieving for me this year is Young Sheldon. Being a huge fan of the Big Bang Theory show, I was excited when this show came up, depicting the younger life of one of the main characters, Sheldon Cooper. He is a smart, witty kid born into an ordinary family in Texas.
He has a twin sister who enjoys being a thorn in his flesh as all siblings do and an older brother is your typical average teenager. With an easy going sports teacher as a father, a deeply religious woman as a mother as well as a fun-loving woman as his memaw, Sheldon copes living an ordinary life with a genius mind the same way his family tries to cope with him. Though Sheldon is smart and seems to know everything, there are things he realizes he doesn’t know and his curiosity to learn keeps him humble to be taught.
It’s a good show to watch before going to bed as it takes you to sleep with a smile on your face.
Which shows made it to your favorites’ list and why? Let me know and I will add them to my watch list! Thanks for reading.
