TV Series Tag #20: Designated Survivor

We are going to the White House next! Designated Survivor tells the story of a lower-level cabinet member serving as the Housing and Urban Development Secretary, who had his life take on a dramatic turn after the President and most of the cabinet perished in an attack making him the next President of the United States. Tom Kirkman totally unprepared for this big shoes he has to fill, has to deal with who is behind the act of terror as well as work twice as hard to win the confidence of the people as their un-elected leader.
1. Where does the show rank on your favorites’ list?
Top 30.

2. From 1-10, how obsessed are you?
Maybe a 4.

3. How did you discover the show?
I follow Kiefer Sutherland on Facebook so I got to know of his new show in the works so I waited anxiously for it to start showing.

4. What was your initial thought of the show and did it change after watching it?
For me, I wanted to see another side of Kiefer after moving on from his brutal character Jack Bauer from the 24 show. You see in 24, he was an agent and in doing his job, he had to bend and break some rules to get the results he needed. But in Designated Survivor, as a president, he is so bound by the laws that he had to stick with them for anything at all. Seeing Maggie Q who played Nikita acting as agent was something I found interesting. It has been a good show to watch so far.

5. Why do you like the show?
I like the show because of how Tom Kirkman approaches governance. He is not a politician by nature and seeing how he has to brace himself for unforeseen challenges is something I find worth observing.

6. Who are your favorite characters in the show?
Tom Kirkman because he shows that integrity is everything; Emily Rhodes – she has proven to be very efficient and dependable; Hannah Wells because she is a fearless agent; Aaron Shore because he seems trustworthy and somewhat mysterious and Seth Wright because he’s good at managing the devouring press.

7. Least favorite character in the show?
I’m yet to have one.

8. How would you kill off your favorite character?
That’s a tough one. I don’t know.

9. Who is your crush on the show?
I don’t have one.

10. If you were to be a character, who would you choose?
Maybe Emily because she has proven that she is equally as competent as Aaron in serving as Chief of Staff and she takes her job very seriously. Tom’s wife, Alex also portrays a very dependable and understanding character. She is very supportive of her husband even though she doesn’t always agree with some of his choices. She understands that it comes with the job.

11. Favorite season
Well, season 2 just started and I’m yet to watch it but I totally enjoyed season 1’s first ten episodes so much that I watched it twice! The suspense was on point and I loved how the story was unfolding.

12. Do you follow the cast and show on Twitter and Facebook?
I follow the show and Kiefer on Facebook.

13. Which of the characters would you like to meet?
Tom Kirkman, Emily, Aaron, Hannah.

14. If you could meet any of the actors, who would it be?
Kiefer Sutherland!

15. What lesson(s) have you learned from the show?
Life can plunge us into a whole different world in just an hour and no matter how dramatic it is, we should be prepared to step up and take charge. We may have plans on where we want to be in the next year or ten years but fate could have other plans. If that happens, don’t run away but believe you can do it and get into position. Do it your way and do it better. People may criticize and oppose you at first but don’t let them intimidate you into giving up. Prove to them though you may not have all the qualifications to succeed, your determination and sense of purpose will let you exceed their expectations.

Do you watch the show? Do you enjoy it? What do you like about the show? Kindly share your thoughts and thanks for reading.

I love the show. I’m thankful that I can watch all seasons on Hulu without commercials. But if I had to go to Amazon and pay for each new episode, I would without hesitation. I’m a huge Keifer fan, so there’s that. I love the way he uses good old fashion common sense coupled with education when solving obstacles he didn’t appear to have a clue about initially. He doesn’t have to be the smartest person in the room either. Very impressed with this!

I love that his wife and daughter are so supportive of him, and that his son has also gotten on board. The press secretary is Mr. Cool. He’s probably my favorite after Kirkman. The ladies seem like empowered women, which is always nice to see. They are believable, which is important in this day and age!
