This week, let’s go into the world of service to country, shall we? Homeland is one great show worth watching. You are kept in suspense until the last but one episode and then it just dies off in the last one. This has been the case until the just ended season 6; which actually keeps you anticipating what would happen in the next season. I don’t know if it’s the writers’ special signature but I’m glad they broke the spell with season 6.
The story has evolved so the plot which began the series has changed. It all started with a captured marine sergeant Nicholas Brody returning home following eight years in captivity. CIA agent Carrie Mathison thinks he has been turned and is connected to a terror plot to be carried out on American soil, so she engages him in a dangerous game which puts America’s security at risk. How one can fall for a guy she suspects to be a terrorist? Well, Carrie Mathison can.
- Where does the show rank on your favorites’ list?
- From 1-10, how obsessed are you?
I’ll rate myself a 5.
- How did you discover the show?
- What was your initial thought of the show and did it change after watching it?
Carrie’s attraction to a potential terrorist was something that peaked my interest. I wanted to know if there would come a time when she would have to choose between a complicated love interest or service to her country. Post Sergeant Brody, I love the tough love between Saul and Carrie and how far they would go to make sure their country was safe from its enemies.
- Why do you like the show?
I watch a lot of shows so I love variety. Homeland transports me into another world of danger, difficult decisions and political drama, different from the others I watch.
- Who is your favorite character in the show?
Carrie, Saul, Peter Quinn and Dar Adal. Carrie is one crazy character; suffering from bipolar disorder but unstable in every other way. Whenever she plans to settle down, something comes ruffling everything up. Saul is diplomatic and principled. Peter Quinn is as messed up as Carrie, damaged by war. Dar Adal? He plays dirty but his heart is in the right place-keeping America safe. I was surprised to find him playing the bad guy in season 6 because I knew he wasn’t that ‘bad’ and I was right in the end. He was right about the President elect-something was very ‘unAmerican’ about her.
- Least favorite character in the show?
Hmmm…the President-elect in season 6 makes the list.
- Favorite villain
Can’t think of one.
- How would you kill off your favorite character?
The way Peter Quinn died…saving someone else.
- Who is your crush on the show?
Don’t have one.
- If you were to be a character, who would you choose?
Can I be Saul, please? Carrie is too complicated.
- Favorite season
I loved season 1, 4 and 5 a lot! 2, 3 and 6 weren’t bad either.
- Do you follow the cast and show on Twitter and Facebook?
I follow the show on Facebook.
- Which of the characters would you like to meet?
Carrie, Peter, Saul and Dar.
- If you could meet any of the actors, who would it be?
The same characters mentioned.
- What lesson(s) have you learnt from the show?
It takes one of a strong character to be a federal agent, it seems. Sacrifices have to be made every time so before making a decision, be sure that whatever you are trying to save is indeed worth it. Some jobs can scar you for life and can rip you of your humanity. Make sure it doesn’t happen to you.
Ever watched homeland? What do you think of the show? Kindly share your thoughts.
