Would You Rather #84: Be Forgotten or Hatefully Remembered?

Not everyone cares how he would be remembered after he passes on. After all, not everybody is going to sing your praises no matter how much good you do so why even bother? Such people will go all out to live the way they want, regardless of how many people get hurt along the way and how much they put themselves in danger.

But for those who do, they wish to go with a bang! Besides, a good name is better than riches, right? Though a lot of names are still remembered for the great lives they led, there are many more others who did same but have somehow disappeared from history’s memory. These unsung heroes were remembered by a few who did little to pass their memories on and also passed on. They were worth remembering but they couldn’t stay remembered.

And of course, they are the notoriously infamous people who walked upon the face of this earth decades ago that posterity wished they never did. We may never feel the pain they inflicted on others years ago but the disgust of it all continues to travel from one generation to the other. One such person would be Adolf Hitler. As long as there’s history, the memory of Adolf will persist in this world though not in a good way.

So the question is, would you rather be an unsung hero (ine) or infamous figure?

Aside those with a twisted philosophy to cause pain and havoc wherever they go and be remembered for their ‘worthy cause,’ I doubt anyone in his ‘right frame of mind’ would wish to be hatefully remembered. Would you say to be hatefully remembered is better than not be remembered at all?

As much as I would like to leave my name written in the sands of time, leaving behind a legacy of good will, I would prefer to be forgotten than to have the mention of my name be a trigger of hate and disgust; and be considered a curse to have ever been born.

Do you want to be remembered for something after you’re gone or you would care less? Does it matter what you stood for whiles you lived; or whether good or bad, that’s okay with you? Would it hurt to know you have been forgotten though you did great things when you were alive?

Kindly share your thoughts.

  1. I would want to be remembered for doing something positive to impact the lives of others. I don’t want to be remember as someone who tortured and hurt people because of hatred. If that’s the case forget me all together. I seem to think being remembered or forgotten after death means nothing to me in the grand scheme pf things because I will no longer be of this world.

I wish to vanish like never having been born. Sounds kind of despairsome. Could be better than heaven. maybe its a thing from the past but would end all the struggling.

Personally, I’d rather be forgotten if the only things people are going to remember about me are negative. You’d have be a really terrible human being to be remembered with only hatred.
