Would You Rather #60: Not Eat Your Favorite 5 Foods For A Year Or Eat Only Your Favorite 5 Meals For A Year?

(c) Ezibangh

I am not a food fanatic but I do enjoy good food. Whiles some are a bit picky with what they eat, some prefer not to tag any food as favorite or not; they would rather appreciate any plate of food set before them.

Out of the not –so-many foods that I eat, I do have a few favorites. Some I eat a little more frequently; some others, occasionally. But can I subject myself to eating or not eating only those few for a year?

We all have some sort of menu we stick to; not necessarily written down and pasted on the refrigerator. Some have a less or more flexible menu they follow. No matter how random one thinks his choice of meals is, there would always be some sort of pattern.

Come to think of it, I think I eat only a handful of meals during a year on rotation. Some are not necessarily my favorite (I have to eat what has been decided by the ones under whose roof I sleep) but that’s okay. It’s in anticipation toward the day I’d get to have my favorite. Always a good thing to look forward to.

Not be allowed to eat my five favorite foods (Jollof, red red, waakye, fufu, the fifth is divided among fried yam, ampesi and banku/kenkey) sounds like punishment to me. If I can’t eat them, what else can I eat? I’m not a fan of trying new foods and aside these, there a just a few I can manage to eat comfortably. To settle for my second and third best meals for 365 days, it’s doable but an uncomfortable choice to make.

Eating only my five favorite meals for a whole year? By December 31, I’m sure I’d have changed my mind about the meals being my favorites…lol. As much as I enjoy eating something, I can’t bring myself to eating it almost every day. One must give the tongue the time and space to crave for it so that one can fully savor the food whiles eating. Eating only five meals will feel like a chore after a month.

Can I abstain from my favorite 5 for a year? Highly unlikely. Can I feed on just them for a year? Don’t think so. Even my least favorites get their occasional craving moments. But I guess it can be managed. The toppings and accompaniments can make a meal taste pleasantly varied from what one is used to. So I guess I’d rather go for the latter.

What about you? Can you live without your favorite foods for a year? Can you depend on just the five? Why is that? Don’t hesitate to share your favorite foods with me as well. Would love to discover more delicacies! Thanks!

Quite complicating…eat only my five favorite food for a year or not eat them at all? I think I can endure the former…not eating it at all would be worse.

Wow, for me it really depends. I think I could eat the same five foods for a year if there were slight variations, but to live without those foods for an entire year? I don’t think I could do it!
