Gone are the days where decency was a trait ladies aspired to portray. To be called a lady, one had to dress, talk and act the part. Modesty was the ‘hottest’ trend. They actually played wives to their husbands in their marriages and not as business partners with contracts of benefit as exit strategies as it is the norm now.
Where mothers raised their daughters to responsible and respectable; whereas now some mothers are shamelessly snatching their daughters’ boyfriends and husbands. Where loose talk was not encouraged and distance was kept between the ‘ladies’ and the ‘uncouth’ to avoid character taint of any kind.
Gone are the days when guys dressed well and treated women with care and respect. Where spewing profanity was exclusive to people from bad neighborhoods but now cuts across all homes from elites to the homeless.
Now it seems ‘naughty’ is trending. The more provocative the dress and the dirtier the words, the bigger the confirmation that one belongs to the 21st century. The more skin is revealed, the bigger applause on social media.
Countless articles now abound online about how to talk dirty to your partners to affirm your love. How could such a pure thing like love be allowed to be perverted to such low levels? What happened to decency and where did morals flee to?
Not only worldly people are guilty of belittling their sense of worth by living ‘dirty’. Even people found in our churches who exhibit self-righteous acts and take the credit for charitable deeds and don’t give glory to God do not exactly score any points on Heaven’s score sheet. They are merely ‘filthy rags’ before God.
So the bottom line is this: anything that doesn’t give glory to God is downright dirty. He is a holy God and thus doesn’t compromise on purity. As humans, we would all stray away along the path but as long as you tap into God’s ceaseless supply of grace, you can pick yourself up and continue to walk on the path of life. But you must make up your mind to live pure.
Living loose isn’t the only wrong path but not loving your neighbor as much as God loves us is also a big minus.
And by the way, living, talking, dressing dirty isn’t classy. Anyone who claims that you have to get on the ‘in-vogue’ train is lost himself. He won’t take you anywhere. It’s not worth it if you have to sell your dignity to satisfy someone’s lewd cravings.
The ‘dirty’ theme reminds me of an older post I published some time ago. Kindly check it out here.
