‘I trust you’;
Sounds very complimentary;
But bears a heavy responsibility;
Being entrusted with someone’s confidence;
Is not to be taken lightly;
To be trusted is to be held accountable;
For one’s mental and emotional sanity;
Disappointment is abhorrent to trust;
Betrayal is a taboo;
Can you play by the rules?
But disappointments are bound to happen, one might say;
True it may be, but one must be conscious enough;
Not to cause them as much as possible;
Because trust lost might never be regained.
Are you trustworthy?
Trust is such a valuable commodity;
And so should be released sagely;
Trusting the wrong person is a wasted investment;
And the giver loses more;
Who do you trust?
Do people find you reliable?
Then you’re blessed;
Not everyone has that favor to win over the hearts of others;
Don’t take it for granted;
You may be special but definitely not indispensable;
Many hearts have been broken;
On the account of trust;
Many businesses have collapsed;
Because someone abused trust;
A broken trust is strong in its effects;
Anyone with a conscience;
Would think twice of hurting you;
After saying you trust him/her;
But of course, some people would care less;
You trust them at your own peril;
We all have trust issues-varying levels of them;
I choose not to place my complete trust in man;
For he is liable to fail;
But I can afford to give him the benefit of the doubt;
So to have a shock-absorber ready just in case;
I choose to trust God;
Even when I don’t understand Him;
Because failing is not in his itinerary;
He won’t break my heart;
Instead, He’ll keep it safe…even from myself.
