Since I’m allergic to being the center of attention, I’m definitely not the type to be interested in participating in a reality show of any kind. I’d rather watch than be watched.
But come to think of it, what if our lives were one big reality show being watched to the amusement of people on some other planet? Would we live any differently? Maybe, for a while; but after some time, the self-consciousness would wane and we would act out our true selves.
Which of the shows would I feel less awkward? The only picture which comes to mind at the mention of a survival reality show is that of the Hunger Games. And as much as I enjoyed watching the first part, I don’t think I want to be in such a show no matter how much the reward is. I won’t last the first quarter of the first round. And knowing that there are thousands of people watching, criticizing, mocking and judging my actions wouldn’t make the challenge any motivating.
As for dating game shows, I haven’t really watched any of them so I have no idea how that goes. Whether it’s the type where a couple is in competition with another couple to answer questions and play charade and other stuff just so as to win something at the end or where a set of singles are asked questions and then paired with each other per assumed compatibility, it’s not really my cup of tea.
With the survival show, the name suggests that it would get to a point where one would have to do whatever it takes to survive; sometimes do things that ordinarily wouldn’t cross the mind. I am not that daring to take up such a challenge. I know myself and declare myself unfit for such a show.

As for the dating game show, as much as I’m not camera-comfy, if it is just answering questions with a partner, I’m sure I can endure an hour of that. If it the type where I’d be matched with a total stranger to ‘test the waters,’ then, I’m out.
Which show would you feel more comfortable featuring in? The survival one shot in the woods or the dating one in a studio where you’d have to smile throughout regardless of how awkward it might feel?
Are you the adventurous type who wouldn’t mind entering into some dangerous zones just for the thrill of it or are you the kind who loves to play charades and win challenges on TV? Let me know by sharing your thoughts.

This is something to really think about!! I haven’t thought about it yet, but now i have. I might consider participating in a survival show. I think I’d do fine.
I really dont like dating shows cause i think it’s all a bunch of fake stuff, like the ” Bachelor” or the ” Bachelorette “. It kinda gets on my nerves😂

I think I would rather go for the survival show as long as it’s not going to be like the hunger games😀😀. I love trying out new skills. I definitely will suck at the dating game shows, I’m really too restless for that kind of thing😀

I know I’m spoken for now, but I’d still take a survival show any time of my life. I always find it hard to connect with people at random. Even in the near infinite blogosphere I only find a handful of people whose blogs I enjoy reading and who I enjoy talking to. Even among friends and family, I can’t name one person save Jon who I could spend more than 24h with before feeling tired and needing my own space. I’ve lived in 18 houses across nine villages, towns and cities, and travelled across three countries, four if you count England and Wales separately. So I’ve met more than enough people. And yet other than relatives there is nobody from over five years ago who I talk to more than once or twice a year. I’m a very private, very quiet, very picky person. A dating show, with 10-20 contestants… I’m probably gonna dislike all of them by the first hour. Mean but true. XD
Now, when it comes to survival, I’m one of those crazy self-sufficient people who would try anything. I loved scouts, I love foraging, I will definitely encourage my kids into rangers or DofE or something like that. I can sew and weave and carve and make fire and find food and purify water. I find gathering fruit and making jams to be one of life’s little pleasures. Plus, I have an unhealthy ego, so I would love to show off those skills and outdo other participants. And then try and bring the more useful people together to form some sort of order so we can all survive. Nourishing a tribal bond of sorts. Yeah, I’ll take firewood and shelters and foraging any time. 😀

Me too…. I don’t like being the centre of attention. I’d rather express what is in my mind than express my body to the hungry eyes of audience.

I’d definitely go for the survival show. The point of those is to show you can be inevitable with limited resources and rise to the challenge while a dating show just seems a bit shallow [though I loved blind date with Cila Black]. Mostly I’ve with you on the whole camera shy bit. It doesn’t help that television tries to show people in whichever light will most entertain.

I found your blog through the Community Pool. Great site by the way! I all ready met the girl for me, so I’ll choose survival show. Either way though, I think I would have a better chance of surviving with sticks and stones than with trying to woo strangers I have never met.

Oh nice that you’re already taken! And I’m tempted to agree with you about the chances of surviving in the wild as compared to a show. Thanks for passing by and sharing your thoughts. Really appreciate it 👍☺

As much as I would like to remain safe and entertaining a harmless way, I feel like I would love the sense of adventure and closeness to nature on a survival show!
