Interesting question, right? Most people frankly admit that they are not morning type; they don’t wake up all bubbly and excited to start the day. It takes time by which I means hours to warm up to the idea that another day has befallen them and that they have to sit up and make hay while the sun shines.
Some people have the moods rise with the sun shining bright after noon. When all is bright, their spirits light up and their energy is boosted. When the sun goes on holiday and is replaced by dark clouds, you can imagine how gloomy its corresponding mood would be. Wouldn’t be fun to be stuck with such a person in a house or office all day.
And there are others whose mood get better as the sun is setting. Maybe it could be because the day is ending and it would soon be time to clock out of work, get some comfort food, watch silly sitcoms and crawl under the covers and sleep. Just the thought of being free of all responsibilities for the late hours of the day just sparks some glee in them.
There are also the nocturnal ones. When the world in their time zone has retired, that’s when they are most active. When the city noise had died down and the moonlights have switched on the calm button on people, that’s when their minds and bodies are ready for some action.
I’m sure you’ve read around that the most productive people are the ones who wake up at dawn and start working even before the world wakes up. This may apply to those have their own startup businesses; whose success depends more on the determination of the founders themselves than any number of employees who may just be there for the money.
There are a number of articles about how to cultivate the habit of being a morning person but the truth is, just as there are differences in skin color, finger length and IQ, so will we be when it comes to the time of person everyone is. It doesn’t necessarily make one more sanguine than the other. It adds to the diversity of humankind.
Whether you are an entrepreneur, leader, employee, student or freelancer, you know what time on the clock ticks up the energy for you. Some boost habits can be deliberately learnt to make you more efficient but appreciate how your system works and use it to its fullest capacity.
Whether you are a morning, afternoon, nocturnal or even the dawn type of person, that’s you. But the fact that you’re perkier when the sun is high up doesn’t mean you should be excused for snapping at anyone who bothers you early in the morning. Life is a struggle for everyone, swallow up the bad mood and do what you have to do.
Time and tide they say, waits for no man and a stich in time, saves nine. No matter what time it is, use it well because there’s nothing like a time machine which can let us go back in time to correct a slip.
