Nothing beats the lovely, content smile of a bride as she walks down the aisle to meet the man she is eager to spend the rest of her life with. To the invited guests present, he is just another man getting married. But to her, he is the one she has been waiting for since she was old enough to understand what love was.
The relief washing over the groom as he first sees his bride coming through the doors surpasses any other. He is very aware of the many hurdles they had to jump to get to this point. But watching her radiating with spotless splendor and stunning beauty assures him it was all worth it.
Looking back, there was a time she doubted she would even get here. The fights, the brief breakups and even the attempts to move on with someone else…were just prepping her for the long, hard journey ahead of them starting from this day.
Excited, yes he is. Sure, of course he is. Perfect, no one is; but if she was selfless enough to accommodate his own imperfections, then he was more than willing to live with her imperfections as well.
She does not know what tomorrow holds for them but she is satisfied knowing that no matter what it might be, she would not face it alone. He knows there would be both bright and gloomy days before them; but no matter the order they come, he would never regret this very day. And as they both say “I do,” they promise each other all of themselves and hope to remember this promise especially during the trying times.
And when the priest finally pronounces them as Mr. and Mrs., they know there is no turning back.
Staring at the plain band wrapping around the finger, it suddenly hits her. The same way one cannot tell the beginning of the ring or the end thereof, their union is forever, with no sharp curve signifying a pause of any kind. Even when the going gets tough, one has no choice but to keep going. Nothing spells commitment in its entirety than accepting the ring and everything that comes with it.
He looks at her smiling and it warms his heart. He knows he won’t always see her smiling, the beautiful body he craves for so much will not remain the same and who knows what other damage time and aging brings along? But it is his desire that they grow old together and that they would both look back to this day and the memories would be of fondness and not of bitter regret.
They both sigh after they have bid everyone goodbye and their car speeds them away. The clock has started ticking…it is their time. Looking into each other’s eyes, they promise each other to make each second count.
