We all desire a fresh start but we keep reliving our old lives;
In the same homes, having the same friends;
We make annual resolutions but we go back to our old habits; Wearing the same clothes, talking the same way;
Yet we expect a miracle to come out of the blue;
And change our circumstances like that of the wave of a wand.
Every New Year’s Eve is the moment where we realize That we are far away from where we started;
But not as close to where we wanted to be;
So we take out our diaries, stickers and planners;
And write out plans however realistic they may be;
And hope the evidence in ink will make it happen.
But writing your wishes and dreams down
Doesn’t guarantee them coming to pass
Unless you do something about them.
It requires the step you take to achieve them;
Without that first step, the mile you’re aiming at
Will always remain an illusion.
Be it a better character or a change in situation
No matter which one you find yourself;
Believe it will be so and act accordingly;
Make sure you’re starting this year right;
Old grudges buried, offenses forgiven;
And your stand in God unshaken.
Don’t take this New Year to be like just any other;
Like a coin, it has two sides;
A turn-around for greatness;
Or a fast spiral pace down to nothingness;
Make this year worthwhile Because you’re worth more than you think.
Don’t think you’re doomed to fail; That everything you touch does turn to dust;
You were considered precious enough for God to come down And die in your place so you would live;
So why choose to die daily when you can live
When the Giver of Life offers Himself freely?
Happy New Year to you all!
May good tidings follow you wherever you go;
And may failure never be the fruit of your labor.
