Christmas is drawing near and the change in weather brings along a change in mood and perspective. The singsong bells will soon ring and people especially little children will be excited because they will be expecting gifts around their decorated trees. But the best and everlasting gift was offered to mankind thousands of years ago. The fullness of God in a form of a babe came to grace the earth with His awesome presence.
The one who through all things were made premiered on the scene at the humblest place on earth whiles the heavenly host glorified Him for blessing mankind with God’s very image.
We are usually very careful about the gifts we choose to give out because we want to give our very best to show how much we care. God in His infinite mercy and never-ceasing love gave all of Himself, His very Image and fullness to draw us back to Himself.
This time of year is all about giving-not giving from what we can spare but giving from the heart because one’s treasure can only be found where the heart is. So as we go about making merry during this festive season, let’s not lose its very essence.
Our Lord Jesus is our very Rock; the One we cannot do without. All other ground we may be standing on are all sinking sand-it takes just a little tremble to give out beneath our feet.
Share the story of Jesus with someone this Christmas-give him/her the best gift one can ever get; the only one which never loses its value over time.
Touch someone’s heart with the message of love, peace and joy. Encourage a brother to hold on to the faith and stand no matter how hard the winds blow because he will not be let down. Remind a colleague that the Savior of the world is also the Protector, Provider and Lord of all.
If you happen not to eat the festive delicacies and spend time with friends like you normally do-everything you know to make up this season is not around except Jesus, would you still say your Christmas season was still worthwhile?
Always thank God for coming down to earth because it is because of Him that we have the various holidays we enjoy so we may find rest in Him and Him alone. Renew and restore your faith in Him and help someone get to know Him better.
