Hi lovely readers,
I just want to say thank you for following the “Mother’s Love” and “Leave to Cleave” series faithfully. Your likes and comments have encouraged me greatly. And because of your amazing support, I’ve decided to start a new one. Hurray!
I hope you enjoy it as the ones mentioned above.
Ted killed his engine and got out of his car. He entered the jewelry shop with high spirits. He approached the vendor lady with all smiles.
“Good day, sir; is there something you would like to buy?”
“Yes please; get me the most glamorous ring you have in your collection.”
The lady smiled knowingly. “For your special someone, huh?”
“Uh huh,” he responded boyishly as he anxiously clenched his fists in his pockets.
The attendant brought out a set of sparkling rings.
“Is she a lover of big rocks or cute ones?” she inquired.
“Hmm…not too huge, not too tiny either…I want…just perfect.”
“Then I recommend you take this,” she said, pointing to a particular one whose rock had an azure gleam to it. He smiled contently.
“Yes, I’ll have that.”
He walked towards the porch of Anita’s house with his heartbeat thumping heavily in his ears. As he stretched his hand to hold the doorknob, he realized the door was left open. He entered.
“Honey…” he called out as he looked upstairs. His shoe hit something and he looked down. They were Anita’s shoes. He smiled as he bent down and took them. As he started the stairs, he saw her blazer roughly thrown down.
“Anita?” He heard no response. He took it off the floor and stopped at her bedroom door. His heart was beating harder than ever. The door was not closed. He swallowed and gently pushed the door. He entered to hear giggles.
The bedspread covered up the giggling couple. Ted wanted to walk towards them but he couldn’t feel his feet.
“Anita?” She gasped as she heard her name and hastily took the covering off her head revealing her accomplice.
“Jake?” The shock made his throat tighten.
“Honey, it’s not what it looks like,” Anita said. Ted dropped her shoes and blazer and walked back a few steps.
“I’m glad I saw this side of you before we got any further…and as for you,” he said as his gaze fell on Jake, “don’t let me ever see your face…ever again,” Ted warned and left the room.
“Teddy, please!” Anita’s voice cried out.
He did not know how he did it but all he knew was that he was behind his steering wheel and he was on the highway.
He knew women were no angels but he never Anita to be such a hussy. She acted so committed and faithful…and she was the one who hinted him of wanting a ring. With Jake of all people? What the hell did he have that he didn’t have ten times over?
As he approached the traffic lights, he took the little box and opened it. The sparkling jewel brought tears into his eyes. He didn’t notice when the lights turned red. Just as he closed the box shut, a 4×4 car hit him at his side with such intensity that all the events of the day began to flash through his mind with lightning speed: him being at the shop, he seeing Anita in bed with Jake.
He inhaled heavily as if it were his last breath as his eyes slowly closed; as if he never wanted to see the light of day ever again.
Just whetting your appetite for the juicy chapters to come!
