The Question to “MAYBE”

The question that leaves us all helpless…

Maybe your life is at a standstill right now. Completely lost, you don’t know where to turn and who to turn to. So you begin to ask yourself, ‘what if…?’

What if I followed this career path and not this one?
What if I had married a few years later than I did?
What if I had gone to this college?
What if I was around more adventurous people in my school days?
What if I was born into a different home?
What if I was born somewhere else?

It may be true that our lives might have taken a different turn if we were born some other place to other people under different circumstances but guess what, we are here now. Whatever could have been remains in the realms of your imaginations. You are here now and you have to face life just as it presents itself.

Yes, there have been some choices made which brought dire consequences-the ones we may have to live with for the rest of our lives but through it all, we’ve learnt something from it; something that can only be appreciated through experience. You may be in a bad place because of the crowd you hang out with but it’s not too late to turn things around. Change your circle of friends; be with the ones who are there for you when you fall and help you get back up.

Not too late to do so…

You may have married your high school sweetheart at the spur of the moment and now you are seriously wondering what you were thinking at the time. People change and we have to accept that. There still should be something that you love about your partner. Find out what that that is and use it as a point of rekindling whatever feelings that have been quenched.

Family-some wounds and scars that never heal come from where we were brought up. Abused in every way and brainwashed to think that nothing good can ever come out of you- no matter how hard you try, those hurtful words seem to follow you wherever you go; like some form of self-fulfilling prophecy. It hurts the most, surely, when you are abused by the ones you’ve known the longest and love more. Find it in your heart to forgive and let go and you’ll be releasing yourself from the pain of those scars.

As long as we live, the ‘what if’ question will never stop taunting us but it is up to us to brush it off and keep on living on. Life is not easy; you fall, you look at what made you trip and get up. Most importantly, you don’t forget the cause of your fall so you don’t fall again. You learn and you move on.

Find a reason to be happy…you deserve it. 🙂

Life as we know it would have so much better if Eve hadn’t fallen into temptation back in the Garden of Eden but she did and that doesn’t mean we’re all doomed. Thank God for grace through His Son Jesus Christ that we can receive eternal life.

The only what if question that you would always keep you grateful to God is “What if His Son never came down to die for us?” We wouldn’t be here, that’s for sure!

  1. Hello Jo! This is very soothing. It could not have come at a better time. I have been having the ‘What if syndrome’ lately.

Thanks so much for sharing. God blesses.

Thank you for this encouragement, Joseyphina…we’re often tempted to look back on our previous choices, especially when those choices ended up causing our own selves trouble. It’s great to remember that God’s promises say the same thing today that they said the moment before we made our stupid decisions, so in His grace we can still look forward in faith and high expectations to God’s goodness and mercy.
