The little things we say and do;
What we normally take for granted
May fall lightly like a leaf onto the ground;
But they carry much more weight than we know;
Because they are treasured in the heart of others like jewels.
“You look good today; I like your smile; have a great day,”
Doesn’t cost much to say but means much to any hearing ear;
Because a kind word is enough to carry us throughout a hectic day;
And a compliment though free; is treasured like a precious gem;
The words one says are the symptoms of the state of the heart;
Pleasant words prove a godly and genuine peace of mind;
Mean words only show drops of envy and insecurity;
Who do you prove to be with your words?
Your ‘hello, hi,’ with a smile gives someone a sense of worth;
‘Have a great day; stay blessed,’ is all one needs to keep on living;
‘It is well; I’ve got your back,’ may make one’s heart elated beyond measure;
‘Take care, see you tomorrow,’ tells one that at least someone cares.
“Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body,” Proverbs 16:24 (RSV).
Let’s make it a point to say at least one kind word to each person we meet, shall we? Let’s see how it goes…
