The Burden of Love

No matter where we find ourselves, as children of the Light, we sometimes feel the outcast in the group be it at the workplace, at school, at a club or association. We come into contact with different people with all sorts of ideologies and entrenched doctrines that sometimes you wonder how possible it is that we all live on this planet earth. There are some people who obviously relish in the ability to provoke others and others who value the very things you utterly despise. But as a child of God, should we shun them and leave them to perish?

I know it’s not easy to reach out to people who seem comfortable in their present state-not knowing God and caring less about following Him. It sometimes gets confusing about finding the balance between not getting “unequally yoked with unbelievers” and “seeking the lost and snatching them out of sin”. Someone may ask, how can we seek them without associating with them?

It’s all a matter of purpose. Some people associate with others so that their fame and other social benefits could rub off on them. But others reach out to others because of the genuine love they have for their souls to be saved. As humans as we are, we all have some pride in us, to prove our worth to others: that we know what is right and so we won’t associate with the “ignorant” ones who think they are living ‘the life’. How much will it take for us to get down our high horses and help the lost?

Obviously, we can’t do it on our own. It takes the grace of God to love the ones who ridicule and provoke us enough to share the love of God with them. We need to have the burden of love powerful enough to look beyond their flaws and our personal prejudices against them and draw them closer to God.

Time is running out, folks….everything testifies that the Lord’s second coming is as near as ever….why not put aside all human sentiments and participate in the Lord’s harvest? You know the laborers are few… A glorious crown awaits you!

Have a blessed day, folks!

Joseyphina, I agree with you. Sadly, I think where so many of us fail is in seeing the people around us with His perspective. We can only give what we’ve truly received, and taken into our hearts. It’s all about relationship. When we have a living vibrant walk with our Lord, when we’re walking in obedience, submitting to His will, putting our faith and trust in Him, relying on Him for our daily needs, understanding that we’re loved not because of who we are, but because of who He is, then we can start giving and loving out of the overflow of His love of us. It’s showing His love for us through Christ that is life changing….Praise God for your love and faithfulness. Keep up the great writing.

    Hi Joseyphina.

When we’re at our most effective in spreading God’s love is when we’re rooted and grounded in His love for us personally, when we’re secure and comfortable and fully convinced that the Lord first loves ‘us’ on a personal level, as Wayne was alluding to. That’s when we begin to no longer care so much about how others see us – nor about how they may stack up to our own ‘personal-values’ system – and we just start seeing them they way the Lord sees them (which is the same way He saw us before we accepted Him; that is, with eyes full of love and compassion). That’s when our heart has become so full of love that it can’t help but spill over and out to those around us…which has been His Process-design all along 🙂

As always, a wonderful, heartfelt piece, Joseyphina… thanks and God bless you!

  3. Such a very beautiful message, so reflective of your heart dear sister! A touch, a kind word at the right moment in someones life can leave His power causing reflection in a heart and moving it to change. Some plant the seed, some water it and He does harvest it. Our light is what causes others to ponder no matter their life circumstance…people can see what you have through your eyes and want to share that happiness that only comes from our Lord. Blessings dear sister!
